Your router stays closed - nobody can connect directly to your home network. But the Home Assistant login page at your HTTPS address is public, like any website, so your HA password is what guards access. Use a strong password and turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) in your HA user profile.

Yes - for mobile ISP users it's often the only solution that actually works. Port forwarding is physically impossible behind CGNAT; our outbound SSH tunnel goes out normally.
The agent reconnects by itself every 60 seconds. If HA really is down (e.g. SD card), the SmartHomeEntry dashboard shows the live status and after 15 minutes you get an email - you know right away, not from a call from your family.
