Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
What you MAY and MAY NOT do when using SmartHomeEntry
This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) forms an integral part of the Terms and defines how you may use the SmartHomeEntry service. Violation of the AUP may result in account suspension or a permanent ban.
What is allowed
SmartHomeEntry is a tunneling service designed for legitimate smart home and self-hosting use cases. You may tunnel:
- Home Assistant, Domoticz, OpenHAB, and other home automation systems
- Self-hosted web applications - Nextcloud, Jellyfin, Plex (your legally owned content)
- NAS panels - Synology DSM, QNAP, TrueNAS
- Monitoring (Grafana, Uptime Kuma, Home Assistant dashboards)
- Surveillance cameras inside your own home (in compliance with GDPR)
- Your own development projects, demos, and tests
- B2B - remote service of installations at your customers' sites (with their consent)
What is prohibited
The following activities are strictly forbidden and result in an immediate ban and, where applicable, a report to law enforcement:
CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material)
Zero tolerance. Every case results in immediate account suspension, evidence preservation, and a mandatory report to NCMEC and the Polish National Police pursuant to Article 200a of the Polish Penal Code.
Copyright infringement (piracy)
Hosting, distributing, or streaming films, music, software, books, or other copyrighted works without a license. This also applies to Jellyfin/Plex with a pirated library.
Malware, phishing, ransomware
Tunneling services that host viruses, scam pages, phishing kits, or botnet command-and-control servers. Applies to both active distribution and passive hosting.
Spam, mass mailings
Tunneling SMTP, bulk newsletter servers without recipient consent, scrapers, or email harvesting tools.
Cyberattacks
Using a SmartHomeEntry subdomain as a source of DDoS attacks, port scanning, hacking attempts (penetration testing requires written consent of the target's owner), or exploit kits.
Terrorist content, extremism, violence
Material promoting terrorism, instructions for producing weapons of mass destruction, or content glorifying violence against social groups.
Trafficking in drugs, weapons, prohibited goods
Marketplaces for illegal substances, weapons, forged documents, or stolen data (carding).
GDPR and privacy violations
Public disclosure of someone else's personal data without a legal basis (doxxing), unlawful surveillance of third parties, cameras recording public spaces without proper signage.
Consequences of violations
First violation (minor)
Email warning + requirement to remove the infringing content within 48 hours.
Repeat or serious violation
7-day account suspension + an additional warning. No refund for the suspension period.
Third violation, or immediately for CSAM/terrorism/malware
Permanent account ban with no refund. Logs retained for law enforcement. IP/email blocked from re-registration.
Penetration testing, security research
Ethical hacking and security research on your own infrastructure are permitted. Pentesting someone else's infrastructure requires written consent from the owner (port-scanning other SmartHomeEntry users is FORBIDDEN). Bug bounty on the SmartHomeEntry platform itself - contact: [email protected].
Your obligations
- Update software (Nextcloud, HA, NAS) at least once a month
- Enable 2FA wherever possible
- Use strong, unique passwords (minimum 12 characters, generated with a password manager)
- Disable default accounts (admin/admin, pi/raspberry)
- Promptly report abuse by third parties who have access to your tunnel (family, housemates)
Report a violation
If you see an AUP violation - report it through the form on the page /abuse - Report abuse.
AUP changes
The AUP may be updated in response to new threats. We notify you by email of material changes 30 days in advance. Continued use after changes take effect = acceptance of the new version.
